Coconut Lagoon is not accessible by road. From Kottayam to Kavaratikara Boat Landing: 10 km by road and then a 10-minute boat ride to Coconut Lagoon; Cochin to Puthenangadi Boat Landing: 45 km by road and then a 25-minute boat ride to Coconut Lagoon; and Cochin International Airport: 95 km

Coconut Lagoon is Kerala in microcosm. Set on the Vembanad Lake, with nature all around and no pollution, Coconut Lagoon is unique setting. It is no wonder that the Resort is highly recommended and Condé Nast Traveller has rated it as one of the 25 best getaways in the world.

The Resort is a timber and tile mansion that seems to have grown out of the earth. The entire construction reeks of history. The wooden columns were painstakingly transplanted from the nearby village of Vaikom in 1993. The brass work on the doors or the fine workmanship on the wooden verandah ceilings were all created by masters artisans. The reception area, for example, is pure history. The reception area designed in the manner of a four-cornered open courtyard of traditional Kerala homes date from 1860.

Coconut Lagoon has a variety of accommodation, most of them offering fabulous views of the lake. The Heritage Bungalows set along the canals, are independent cottages. The Heritage Mansions, made to resemble the sides of Kerala boats are much bigger than the bungalows. Then there are the Pool Villas with their private little pools and a hammock. The accommodations might display facets of old world charm but they are all extremely modern in the conveniences and facilities they provide. There is air-conditioning, telephones, hot and cold water but no televisions. The bathrooms are distinct since they are open-roofed yet offering complete privacy.

10 km from Kottayam, 8 km from Cochin, on the banks of Vembanad Lake, hidden among the palm trees on the eastern shore at the mouth of Kavanar River approachable by ferry only

Accommodation :
14 heritage Mansions, 28 Heritage Bungalows and 8 private pool Villas, originally 'tharwads', the traditional wooden house of Kerala, reassembled in accordance with thachu shastra. All mansions and Bungalow are well furnished. The cottages feature ultramodern bathrooms, each located in an inner courtyard boasting its own banana or coconut tree under a starlit sky and utter privacy .

Restaurant :
The oldest structure at Coconut Lagoon, serves superb Keralan cuisine, intercontinental and sea-food in buffet service.
